Emojis are being research into to look at details of food when being drawn out into 2D graphics. As emojis are the mostly used graphics when people around the world talk about food on electronic gadgets, it is a universal language, therefore we thought that using emojis as reference would be the most appropriate.
After trying to draw the emojis out, I realised that movements and utensils are also included in some emojis like the pasta and noodles one. This is provoking the sense of association, that when people talk about pasta, they immediately refer to a fork when they eat it. Same applies to eating noodles. This is a really interesting point to take note at, as when designing tactiles for visually impaired people, the sense of visualisation and association is closely looked into during the process of drawing.
Different types of food pyramids are also researched into to look at how people categorise food. I found out that mostly people categorised it into 6 sections, however, many people divided the pyramid into 5 sections with fruits and vegetables combines into one.
I also looked at how people design infographics in textbooks to get myself familiar with the elements they use to indicate and explain something. They usually use lines to point out explanations and use negative spaces to categorise stuff.
