As I only did the letters for SHORTKID, I have decided to finish the whole set of typeface for all letters. I sketched the letters out like what I did for the SHORTKID initial sketch. I used a 2cm x 2 rows grid for each letter.
I then scanned in the page and traced the lines on photoshop with my Wacom tablet. Used a rough brush like what I did for the logo to get the rugged texture. I refines the lines and edges and filled the letters with colour to get the final typeface.
After finishing with the typeface, I worked on the portfolio layout. The left on was the initial one. I decided not to use white logo on black background as it felt kind of boring and flat. I have decided to add a white border to make it look more layered up and collage like. However the left one still looked a bot odd, I extended the white part and used the white part as a separator for words and a section separator for the later part fo the portfolio. Also I looked at different people's portfolio on bechance to get a brief frame of what I would like my portfolio to be layout. My old one was presented in A4 slides. I find it really boring making my portfolio with slides and descried to make it a long sheet instead. People can scroll through my work smoothly and everything can be put together more cohesively.
I also refined my old work and lay them out all over again to make it fit into the page. This typeface was done in Year one and I was not familiar with using AI. Now that I have accumulated more skills, I realised the details of my old work were kind of unrefined. The alignments were not set properly and that took me a while to get all the alignments right.
